LOUIS TRADITION FOR 40 YEARS AND COUNTING OUR STORY For four decades, Circus Flora has brought joy, laughter, and jaw-dropping thrills to audiences across St. Louis and beyond. Founded by theater producer David Balding and commissioned by famed Italian composer Gian Carlo Menotti for the Spoleto Festival in 1986, Circus Flora o ered a daring new show most Americans had never experienced – melding the best elements of traditional European circus with modern theater techniques and sensibilities. Since then, Circus Flora has continued to grow and evolve as an essential part of the city’s artistic landscape. Each season brings a new original production with a unique storyline inspired by history or literature and brought to life through thrilling acts and live, custom-composed music. Artistic & Executive Director Jack Marsh has performed with Circus Flora since the beginning – literally. He debuted at age two in our first show, became Artistic Director in 2014, and took the reins as Executive Director in 2023. Now entering our 40th Anniversary Season, Circus Flora will continue to delight audiences of all ages with awe-inspiring feats, heartfelt stories, and the magic that only happens under the Big Top.
