I think there’s a lot of things that are great about the CWE, and I think there’s a lot of areas that could even be better. What are you hoping to be in- volved in as a board member? I signed up to be on two com- mittees. One of them is member- ship. I think we can do a better job at increasing membership among people who live in the CWE. I think there are a lot that aren’t necessarily aware of the CWEA and what it can provide. So, increasing membership and membership engagement. The other committee is resident advocacy. Recently, for a few issues such as the changes in the Airbnb ordinance and the proposed chang- es to liquor licenses, there’s been groups of neighborhood initiatives that have come together, and I plan on being the liaison to that associa- tion for the CWEA. — that’s really satisfying. None of it is easy. I’m not allowed to whine or complain. Sometimes it’s really hard, but it’s my choice and it’s what I do. I don’t get much vacation, but even then, you can’t stop wearing ‘The Muny thing’ no matter what. I’ve got seven shows to produce each season and that’s what you accept in this. The Muny is unparalleled as an active creative work that must be redone, reworked, reconnected and rei- magined. By its very definition, it is never allowed to be static. It’s a gift for our community that says, ‘Look what we can do. We’re from St. Louis. You can do it too.” CWEA board member Dan Boc- cabella moved to St. Louis from Gainesville, Florida in 2014 when his wife, Dr. Robyn LeBoeuf, got an op- portunity at Washington University. LeBoeuf is a Distinguished Professor in Marketing and Co-Vice Dean of Faculty & Research. Boccabella recently retired from a 34-year long career in software IT and now enjoys being involved in community organizations such as CWE Friends & Family, the St. Louis Craft Beer Society, being a Scout den leader, a baseball coach and more. What are your favorite aspects of the CWE? When I moved here I had a 2-year-old, and it was great that we could go to all these public institu- tions — museums, the Zoo — all of those for free. I also think it’s a very easy place to live. I think the variety of things that are available and easi- ly accessible, and like I said, easy.
