GRIFFIN March 2024

2 • CWEA GRIFFIN • March 2024 Hello again, neighbors! I hope everyone had a wonder- ful holiday sea- son and new year. Spring is right around the corner, and I couldn’t be happier to see signs of life returning after the (mild) winter season. Now, if only there were a way to keep the allergens on ice! A new year means new changes on the CWEA Board of Directors. Treasurer Ryan Wehmhoff ’s term recently ended, and I’d like to thank him for his three years of dedica- tion and service to our community. Director Shari Whay will become the new treasurer as she enters her third year on the board. Our other board members and positions will remain the same: Becca Vossmeyer, vice president; Celeste Vossmeyer, secretary; Dan Boccabella, direc- tor; Mike Boese, director; Lindsey Tsvetanov, director; Cliff Helm, director; and I’m continuing my role as the president. We’ve also added two new com- mittees to the board to serve you better. Our Resident Advocacy Committee will help connect our neighborhood’s street associations, groups and voices and serve as a liaison to the CWEA board regard- ing general feedback and concerns from our residents. Our Business Committee will work more closely with organizations and businesses to spread awareness of events and happenings to residents, coordinate networking opportunities and in- crease engagement with our mem- bers. We also have plans to update our newsletters and website. If you have any feedback or suggestions, please email us. Are you interested in becoming more involved with the neighbor- hood? Volunteering on the CWEA Board of Directors is a great way to meet new people, give back to the community, and have fun! Please connect with a fellow board mem- ber or me to learn more. We’re also interested in publishing your stories in The Griffin and sharing your pictures on our social media chan- nels — send us a note, and we’ll go from there. Here’s to a beautiful 2024, and as always, thank you for your contin- ued support. Warmly, Brian brian@thecwe.org TheCWE.org @CWEAssociations News from CWE Business CID Signs of spring in the Central West End are starting to show and we are looking forward to warmer temperatures and colorful blooms in the weeks ahead. Every year, the CWE Business Community Improvement District anticipates the changing season and gets ready to celebrate with the blooming of 18,000 bulbs that are planted the previous fall, and we look forward to seeing more of the neighbors and visitors out enjoying the wonderful patios, restaurants, shops and all that the neighborhood has to offer. If you are ready for spring and are looking for ways to shake off the winter blues, consider a stroll through the neighborhood’s one-of- a-kind art galleries, where you will find an eclectic mix of pieces from rotating talented artists, browse the shelves at Left Bank Books to find a perfect spring read, catch a movie on the big screen at the Chase Park Plaza Cinema, sip on one of the many signature cocktails at Bren- nan’s, Edera or Yellowbelly, get your fix of Cajun, Mediterranean or Italian cuisine at one of our many restaurants, challenge yourself to a new workout class at PLNK, Pure Barre or Orange Theory, or pamper yourself with a new ward- robe. Whether you’re looking for something to see or do solo, with friends or with family, there’s always something to enjoy right here in the CWE. As many of you know, the CID was formed in 2010 and is proud of the role it has played in the on- going evolution of the CWE as an exceptional shopping, dining and visitor destination. Activities of the CID are made financially possible through a 1% retail sales tax within the District, situated along North Euclid Avenue from Lindell Boulevard to Washing- ton Boulevard, stretching to King- shighway Boulevard on the west and Walton Avenue on the east.
